AFTER ORDER________________________
Non-sovereign states and peoples
How is sovereignty repressed by trade, finance, and war, and other systems of colonial and racial domination?
This research stream of After Order explores the predicament of populations and states whose sovereignty is not recognised or is undermined by the persistence of established political and economic systems. It also asks to what extent does the growing concentration of political and economic power depend upon the reproduction of ‘unsovereignty’.
We also address the relationship between continuity and change in the historical repression of sovereignty and in struggles to overcome it. We analyse contemporary forms of political organisation and international solidarity that relate to these struggles. And we consider new opportunities for their success.
