André Castro was born in Pernambuco and raised in Bahia. He holds an undergraduate degree in Theology from the Latin-American School (FLAM) and a Master’s degree in Religious Studies from the Methodist University of São Paulo (UMESP). He is an editor and columnist for Revista Zelota. He is the author of Eis aí, o povo Brasileiro (Galáxia, 2026), A luta que há nos deuses (Machado, 2024), and Breve história da teologia da libertação protestante (Recriar, 2022). His research explores the connections between religious imagination and social processes in Latin America, with a particular focus on the relationship between Liberation Theology and what he calls ‘Awakened Brazil’.
