Edemilson Paraná is an Associate Professor in Sociology at University College Dublin (UCD), Ireland, and a part-time Associate Professor in the Department of Social Sciences at LUT University, Finland, where he also holds the title of Docent in the Political Economy of AI and Digital Technologies. He holds a European Research Council (ERC) Starting Grant and is an Academy Research Fellow of the Research Council of Finland (RCF). He is the author of two monographs on digital finance, and his work on the digital economy has been published in leading journals, including Big Data & Society, New Political Economy, the Cambridge Journal of Economics, and Globalizations. His insights have been featured in media outlets across Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Americas.
