Emily Baughan is a Senior Lecturer in Modern History at the University of Sheffield. Her first book, Saving the Children, was published in 2021. She is currently writing Love’s Labour, a global history of childcare for Allen Lane (UK) and Basic Books (US). Her work has appeared in Boston Review of Books, Jacobin, the Times Literary Supplement, and on BBC Radio 4. She is also involved in early years charities and campaigning groups in South Yorkshire and beyond.
