Gareth Owen is one of the humanitarian sector’s most accomplished, influential and creative practitioners. Gareth has spent more than three decades delivering aid and protection to people in settings of disaster and armed conflict worldwide. In 2002, he joined Save the Children UK, serving as Humanitarian Director from 2007 – 2024. Gareth was awarded an OBE in the 2013 Queen’s Birthday Honours list for services to emergency crisis response abroad. Gareth is passionate about the power of hope, human connection and solidarity in an increasingly turbulent world.
