Matthew Aaron Richmond is an urban and political geographer and Lecturer at Newcastle University. He has a PhD in Human Geography from King’s College London and completed Postdoctorates at the Centro de Estudos da Metrópole (CEM USP) and the Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP). He researches urban governance at the margins of the state and conflicts relating to urban development, housing, security, and conservation, with a focus on Latin America.
