Matthew Cole is an Assistant Professor of Technology, Work and Employment at the University of Sussex anda co-investigator with the ESRC Digital Futures at Work Research Centre (Digit). His research has been published in journals such as Work, Employment and Society and Antipode. He has also written for Jacobin, Novara, OpenDemocracy, the Independent, and Dissent. His book Unpaid: the Past, Present and Future of Wage Theft was published with Verso in 2026.
