Paolo Gerbaudo is a Alameda institute Senior Researcher and Senior Researcher at Complutense University in Madrid with a Talento Investigador grant. He was previously a Reader in Digital Politics at King’s College London where he founded the Centre for Digital Culture and a Marie Curie Fellow at Scuola Normale Superiore in Florence and Fudan University in Shanghai. His research interests focus on the transformation of politics in the digital era. He is the author of Tweets and the Streets: Social Media and Contemporary Activism (2012), The Mask and the Flag: Populism, Citizenism and Global Protest (2017), The Digital Party: Political Organisation and Online Democracy (2019), and The Great Recoil: Politics After Populism and Pandemic (2021). He is currently working on the changing nature of the state and the geopolitics of technology.
