AFTER ORDER________________________

2. Digital Sovereignties

How is the rise of big tech being challenged, and how are societies seeking digital sovereignty through greater control over digital infrastructure and data?

This research stream of After Order project reflects on how technology transforms state power. It also explores the tensions and the mutual cooperation in the digital realm between states, corporations and citizens. It addresses emerging struggles over digital sovereignty, the increasing online cultural hegemony of the digital sphere, and the interplay between digital technologies and human emotions.

Ultimately, we ask whether digital technologies will deepen global inequalities, creating and perpetuating new forms of digital subordination, or open up spaces for collective action, solidarity and social justice.
